Dr. Rokkam Madhavi is a Retired Professor, having several years of teaching, research, and administrative experience as the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavati Womens University. Tirupati, Andhra, India. She took her Ph.D degree in Zoology from Andhra University in the year 1968. Fish Parasitology is her area of specialization. Dr. Madhavi made significant contributions to the Taxonomy, life cycles, host-parasite relationships and ecology of Parasites of Marine and freshwater fishes. She undertook a comprehensive survey on digenean parasites of marine fishes of Bay of Bengal and reported many new taxa of digenean parasites and published a checklist of digenean parasites of marine fishes of Indian Ocean. Over the years Professor Madhavi has undertaken many Research projects, published 150 papers in peer reviewed Journals, authored 4 text books and contributed chapters to text books published by CABI and British Museum Natural History. She has mentored 20 Ph.Ds and 19 M. Phils. As a Commonwealth Academic Fellow at Department of Zoology, University of Liverpool, Royal Society Bursary at Imperial College, London, visiting Fellow at British Museum Natural History under International collaborative Exchange Programme Prof. Madhavi visited many laboratories in UK and undertook collaborative research programmes with eminent scientists.
