Dr. Maheswarudu, G. is a Principal Scientist and Head of the Fisheries Division, Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Cochin. As an overseas post-doctoral research associate of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, at Tulane university, New Orleans, USA, Dr. Maheswarudu investigated the induction of gonadal maturation in Cray fish and shrimp. He has contributed to successful implementation of 23 projects on resource assessment such as design, construction and operation of large shrimp hatcheries, evaluation of artificial reefs, floating cage culture and open cage culture. Dr. Maheswarudu guided several postgraduate and Ph.D. scholars in fishery biology. His 81 publications address several aspects of fishery resource management, trawl fishery, mariculture of crustaceans including prawn fishery and oligochaetes.
